What is Resveratrol?

Resveratrol is a polyphonic bioflavanoid compound with antioxidant properties most commonly found in grapes and wine, and it is believed to be the main ingredient responsible for some of wine’s health benefits.

Resveratrol is commonly taken as supplement for a number of benefits including supporting cardiovascular health, blood glucose management, and longevity. There is some evidence Resveratrol can support cognitive function via increased cerebral blood flow, but more research in this area is needed.*

Recommended Dosage

As a supplement for cardiovascular, cognitive, or longevity support we recommend taking between 2 – 4 capsules (500 – 1000 mg dosage) per day. It’s best to start with a 1-2 capsule dosage, and then to move up if you tolerate the product well and are looking for a more potent effect. We do not recommend exceeding 6 capsules per day.

Resveratrol has almost no water solubility, so it needs to be taken with a source of dietary fat for best absorption.

Resveratrol Side Effects

Resveratrol is extremely well tolerated and when studied clinically no adverse side effects have been reported at normal dosages.

Resveratrol should not be used by people taking blood thinners such as warfarin or NSAID drugs such as aspirin or ibuprofen as combining Resveratrol with these drugs can increase chances of bleeding. Resveratrol should also not be used within 2 weeks of a scheduled surgery.
